As you probably know, we contribute our skills each year to the Flora Women's Mini-Marathon, where we provide much-needed Sports Massage to some of the thousands of runners. Our "Big Day Out" comes at the end of class each year on the June Bank Holiday.  This year we were joined by colleagues from the Portobello School.  Our photographer Colm McDermott caught the spirit of the day in all it's glory. Mark Higgins from the Class of '04 worked as Physical Therapist with the Medical Staff of the US Women's Soccer Team for the Beijing Olympics.

The US Women's Soccer Team went on to win Gold! Mark is pictured here proudly displaying the Gold Medal. 

Hailing from Clare, Mark emigrated to the US following graduation to pursue his dream of working with sports people and teams.  When the opportunity to work with the Medical Team came, he didn't need to be asked a second time. Providing sports therapy to an Olympic team had been a dream for a long time.

The Institute would like to offer its congratulations to Mark and the US Women's Soccer Team on winning the gold!
